Workbooks for Cadence Leadership

typotherapy revamps a series of eight course books for Cadence Leadership + Communication.
To better represent Cadence Leadership’s unconventional approach to helping businesses communicate, the new workbooks feature unique typographic treatments, visually appealing, well-organized engaging content, sophisticated grids, and compelling editorial designs.

With the emphasis on Cadence’s mantra: ‘Different is Better’, typotherapy created two custom typefaces for the publication’s display type and chapter pages.

Each workbook cover, colour coded by its topic, features a subtle sound wave graphic that relates to the founders background in music and plays a prominent role in the underlaying themes of each course, followed by an unconventional ‘Cadence’ type treatment overlay.

typotherapy worked closely with the team at Cadence Leadership over several preliminary meetings, presentations, and in production of the workbooks.

Faculty of Music Viewbook

Faculty of Music Viewbook

Faculty of Music Viewbook
University of Toronto
We’ve designed the new viewbook for University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music – Canada’s largest and most renowned university-based music institution.

typotherapy set out to design the book to showcase the faculty’s wide range of undergraduate and graduate level program offerings, and to clearly present information to help recruit future students to enrol.

To give the book a strong visual presence, typotherapy created a custom typeface for the title identity and to highlight each section. The custom typeface, suggests the process of music composition and performance, was designed specifically for the project.

New Work
LAL / Rae Spoon / Coax Records
We started working with LAL way back in 2004, and since then we’ve designed a number of their albums and single releases. More recently, we designed LAL’s latest album Dark Beings on Coax Records, which led us to explore developing a custom typeface specifically for the project, to compliment the spellbinding artwork by visual artist Syrus Marcus Ware.

Subsequently, we were approached by Coax Records to design Rae Spoon’s eleventh album titled Mental Health. Working closely with Rae, and artist Charlie Rae Walker, we created a custom modular typeface for the title of the album, to integrate seamlessly with the expressive illustration, further emphasizing the complexity of mental health.
